"Immure" against climate change, the Marshall Islands
The Marshall Islands in the Pacific, many of which are even one meter below sea level, plan to build a wall to protect the waters."We want to prevent erosion (soil) and to avoid flooding," said the Marshall Islands Ambassador to the UN Philip Muller calling on international donors to finance the project estimated to cost 20 million U.S. dollars (14 million) .The country wants to build a wall five kilometers on Majuro atoll, home to more than half of the 55,000 inhabitants of the islands. In addition, authorities are planning to Earth within small to absorb storm water and prevent the rise in sea level.Over the past two years revealed the vulnerability of the cluster of islands to climate change.
